Lake Bled and Postojna Cave in One Day from Ljubljana: Is the Big Combined Tour Worth It?
Updated October 18, 2026 · 6 min read
Short answer: it can be done, and for one day in Slovenia it is the most efficient way to see the two best-known sights outside the capital. But it is a long day, and each stop is shorter than a single-sight trip would give you. If you can spare two days, do Bled and Postojna separately. If you only have one, the full-day tour to Lake Bled, Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle is the one whose listing spells out the most: 10 hours, €115 per person, 4.9 stars from 296 reviews.
The geography of it
The two sights lie on opposite sides of Ljubljana. Bled is roughly 55 kilometres to the north-west, Postojna roughly 50 kilometres to the south-west. A combined trip therefore drives out and back through the capital, or from one to the other across the middle, and the tours run 10 to 11.5 hours for that reason. Some of the day is simply motorway.
The cave is also the less flexible half. A Postojna visit is fixed to a time slot, the operator asks you to arrive about 30 minutes before it, and the underground part alone takes around an hour and a half. Whatever else the day holds has to be fitted around that.
What each combined trip offers
| Trip | Duration | From | Rating | What the listing says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lake Bled, Postojna Cave and Predjama Day Tour | 10 hours | €115 per person | 4.9 (296) | pletna boat to Bled Island, Bled Castle, Predjama Castle, train into the cave |
| Lake Bled, Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle | 11 hours | €119 per person | 5.0 (200) | small groups of up to 8 people |
| Lake Bled & Postojna Cave with Entry Tickets | 11.5 hours | €169 per person | 4.8 (895) | entry tickets in the title |
| Postojna Cave, Predjama Castle & Lake Bled Visit | 11 hours | €89 per person | 4.9 (37) | 10% discount on entrance tickets |
Doing the sums
The official combined ticket for the cave and Predjama Castle is €49.90 for an adult. The pletna boat to Bled Island costs €20 per person return on the municipal tourism site. That is about €70 before you pay for the Bled Castle ticket, lunch or any transport at all. Against that, the €115 trip would charge roughly €45 for getting you to three places and back with a guide, if the tickets are in the price. Its listing names the boat ride, the castle and the cave train but does not say outright that tickets are included, so confirm that on the booking page before you count on the sum.
The €89 trip is cheaper only on paper. It offers a discount on entrance tickets, not tickets, so the cave and castle are extra: add the tickets and you end up above the €115 trip. The €169 trip names entry tickets in the title and has by far the most reviews of the four, 895, but it does not list Predjama, and it costs €54 more than the €115 trip. Whether the extra buys anything you can name is for the booking page to answer. The €119 trip has the best rating, 5.0 from 200 reviews, and says groups are capped at 8, which counts on a long day.

Why two days is better, if you have them
On a combined day, expect roughly the following: a couple of hours at the lake, the cave slot with its early check-in, and the castle if there is time. Everything is squeezed against the cave’s slot. Opening hours and tour times change with the season, so look at the operators’ timetables for your date.
Splitting it gives each place a proper visit. Take the Lake Bled day tour one day, where a bus is also an option, and Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle another. Bought as tours, the two cost more than the combined trip: the €49 Bled day tour plus the €114 Postojna tickets-and-tour is €163, against €115 for the big day. You pay for the room to breathe. On public transport the gap shrinks, since Bled is easy by bus.
If you drive yourself
A car makes the combined day practical, because you choose the order and the pace, but the cave slot still decides everything. Book the cave first, then fit Bled around it, and plan for the drive between the two sights, which takes a bit over an hour. If a car is your plan, compare rental offers for Ljubljana on Discover Cars and check the excess before you book.
Which one
For one day and no car, book the €115 tour, or the €119 small-group tour if you would rather travel with up to eight people. For anyone with a second day, split it. Both sights are also sold individually under Lake Bled tours and Postojna cave tours.
